Packing for a move, yet again, and found this drawing. It made me want to make something new. And so the second work, "Neon Pasty Princess" was born.

My final final
Well, this is it. I had my final critique as an undergrad yesterday and tomorrow is graduation. I will officially be an alum of SAIC. I don't know how it happened so fast, but it's been a ride. These pieces close this fine four year chapter-

E + E and the E
It's official: my beautiful big sister Emily is engaged to her more than perfect boyfriend, Ethan. The ultimate E and E. I and the rest of the family couldn't be more happy about the news. These two creations were done by my ecstatic parents who can't stop gushing :)
Congratulations Em and Ethan, we love you two so much!

the colors are blooming
I saw flowers popping up in Millenium Park a few days ago. This crazy winter/spring weather is confusing the flowers and the birds that won't stop chirping. It has been a mild winter, but I still can't wait for spring, much like the birds and buds. Sunshine, green grass, colorful tulips in the medians...can't go wrong when colors start showing themselves after a few months hibernation. In this spirit I've been migrating from strictly black and white drawings to adding splashes of color here and there. Drawing with color is rare for me, but I'm finding the exploration real satisfying. Here is a look at my color progression, the first four are from last semester, the rest following are from this past week.

the update
Some updates on things happening in ceramics. I took this first piece out of the kiln today after putting terra sigillata and slips on it. It will go through at least one more firing before it's ready. The second piece is still drying, waiting to be bisqued and fully completed with all its additional parts.

works in progress in the studio
The BFA show is fast approaching. It's really crunch time now, show opens on March 16th. Here's a look at some things I'm working on/may put in the show. Maybe not. Lots of work to be done and decisions to be made.

with fudge. In Valentine's Day spirit, I made three different kinds of fudge- candied bacon, dark chocolate goat cheese, and spicy ginger cinnamon cashew. So decadent and delicious.

First snow in the city
Now this is the way that it should look in January in Chicago. A beautiful blanket of white that will slowly turn to gray slush.
Hello, winter.
